3.         Robert Shaw Playing Field  Launch Day

The Launch Day is Friday 19th July with a carnival on at the school and events on at the field. A leaflet was distributed around the whole of the estate inviting everyone along.

There was an issue a couple of months previously with someone smashing some bottles near the slide and vicious putting the broken glass in such a position that children would have cut themselves coming off the end of the slide.  Fortunately the school groundskeeper found the glass before any harm came to anyone.

4.         Crime Statistics Report

Michael delivered a report on the various types of offences and the numbers involved. There have been a significant increase in the number of burglaries in May. A leaflet was distributed around the estate to inform residents so they can look at their security measures.  The underpass underneath Western Boulevard seems to be a focus for some of the crimes in the statistics.

Anyone wishing to keep informed should sign up to the NottinghamshireAlerts website.

ROGER CODLING
We are very sorry to hear that Roger has passed away.  Roger attended the Resident Association meetings almost from the outset.  A keen cyclist, Roger travelled around many countries with his bike. Roger was also a long time resident of Ainsley Estate and we are glad to have known him.  During the Summer Spring Clean event a couple of years ago Roger helped clear part of the sections of the undergrowth at the school which looked a lot better after he had finished.

The tree in the school grounds that has had a growth spurt is due for a trim/.

Pictures were shown with the field work in a finished state.  Small trees presented by the Woodland Trust are still awaiting planting.  A small technically regarding the insurance details needs to be ironed out before the field can be opened formally.  An official open day was suggested to take place at the beginning of next year when the weather is hopefully better.

4.         Crime Statistics Report

2.         Matters Arising from the Previous Minutes

The old M&S Kitchens building new owners have turned away from making the place in to a community venue and it has now been converted in to a shop.

3.         Robert Shaw Playing Field – Update

The work is progressing well and should be finished by the end of summer.  There were some concerns expressed about the mixture of astro-turf and grass in the football area.  This mixture is ok with the football association and has been risk assessed.

It was proposed that when the work has been completed that there be a community engagement event held on the field to promote its launch.

4.         Any Other Business

The PTA Chair informed the group about a summer fayre being held soon at the school on a Friday after school.

Deborah informed the group of a change in the schedule of Local Action Group (LAG) meetings being held in the area.  Forthcoming meetings are 3rd October at Bluecoat Academy, 17th October at The Vine Community Centre and 7th November at Robert Shaw Primary School.

Concerns were raised by a resident of Grassington Road about the volume of parking on a certain section of the road.  It was also raised about an Ice Cream van parking inappropriately near the school.  The parking around the school is regularly being monitored.  The parking problem around Grassington Road is a more difficult issue as it seems to be residents with multiple cars and not inconsiderate parking.

2.         Matters Arising from the Previous Minutes

M&S Interiors has sold a lease of the building to a couple of community members.  They are currently in the process of applying for planning permission to turn the venue in to a community centre open to all comers.  There are numerous planning and building regulations to meet should a change of use be granted.  The building should not be used until such permissions have been granted.

3.         Robert Shaw Playing Field – Update

The application to gain access to Section 106 money to develop the second phase of the field has been granted.  This would mean the development of the football and cricket area with the landscaping that would require.  The football pitch size is based on 11 year old players.  The development of the Multi-use Games Area would require additional funding.

6.         Any Other Business

Parking – Dorothy Grove and around the school have become significantly congested.  Karen informed the meeting that a new group has started with different attendance times that has increase the flow of traffic at certain times.  The school and the Police are working closely to try and resolve some of the more dangerous issues.  It is known that parents make sensible parking choices when there is a visual presence of Karen or the Police but slip in to poor practice when there isn’t.

It is on-going frustrating issue.
